Available Volunteer Opportunities
Naper Settlement is a family-friendly outdoor history museum, just steps away from downtown Naperville. Open year-round, our 12-acre museum provides fun and interactive learning opportunities for all ages. Become a part of our family as we portray and compare daily life from pioneer to Victorian to modern times.
Whether you put on a pair of garden gloves or a hoop skirt, as a volunteer, you help make Naper Settlement a fun, exciting and beautiful place for our guests.

Building Interpreters
Please fill out our
online application to apply!
Young people in grades 4-8 are eligible to become
Junior Volunteers.
From April through October, the Juniors, dressed in period clothing like petticoats and overalls, play typical games and do chores and activities of the past.
Teens in grades 9-12 and adults can volunteer as History Connectors and work with our visitors at special hands-on activity stations, Settlement Sundays, summer camp, Girl Scout programs and more. No costumes required.

Adults 18 and older can volunteer as Building Interpreters to tell the stories inside our museum houses and businesses. You will help to tell about the building, explaining historic living styles of the past, and demonstrating special skills such as blacksmithing. Period clothing is an option; volunteer program attire is also available.
Volunteers are needed at
special events such as Civil War Days, Naper Nights, Dinner on the Town, Oktoberfest and All Hallows Eve and on a regular basis throughout the year. Volunteer once a year or once a month in the office, with the
Weed Ladies, in the Curatorial department, with restoration projects and
more.
Arrangements can be made for students to volunteer during regular business hours of Monday-Friday from 8:30 am-4:30 pm or at special events and other opportunities. Call for more information and scheduling.
